About
Mekhriban Mamedova
Toronto-based concert pianist and classical vocalist (mezzo-soprano, alto and contralto).
In 2026 Mekhriban Mamedova sings in two Mahler symphonies with the Mandle Philharmonic: The Second, 'Resurrection,' performed at George Weston Recital Hall of the Meridian Arts Centre and at RBC Amphitheatre, and The Eighth, 'Symphony of a Thousand,' performed at Roy Thomson Hall. Throughout the year, Mekhriban performs solo piano repertoire and sacred service music for piano and organ alongside choral and sacred concert work.
Her recent solo engagements include the alto arias in Handel's Messiah (most recently with Toronto Symphony Orchestra musicians, December 2025), Bach's Mass in B minor with the Sacred Music Singers of Toronto and the Arcady chamber orchestra (June 2025), and Haydn's Missa in tempore belli.
Her piano repertoire centres on piano works by Rachmaninoff, Scriabin, Tchaikovsky, alongside early music repertoire, such as Domenico Scarlatti's sonatas, as well as contemporary piano music by Yiruma and Ludovico Einaudi. She also enjoys performing jazz and blues arrangements of both sacred and secular music. Finally, she appears as a piano concertmaster for opera projects across the Greater Toronto Area, including the most recent productions of Gian Carlo Menotti's comic opera The Telephone and W. A. Mozart's Singspiel Der Schauspieldirektor.
Born in Moscow, she has sung in choirs and played the piano since the age of six. She graduated with honours from the Gnessins State Musical College in classical piano. She also holds degrees in law from Moscow State University and the University of Toronto and an MBA from the Rotman School of Management. Mekhriban has been practising corporate law in Ontario since 2011. Her music and legal careers run in parallel.
